General information

PsychNation is a non-profit community run by volunteers and aims to provide a safe and fun place to chat. As well as offering access to chat rooms we provide Webmasters with free services to add a fully customizable and user friendly chat room to their Web site.

The technology

PsychNation uses a protocol called Internet Relay Chat (or IRC) which allows us to provide real-time group discussion. Our servers can support thousands of users at the same time with very low lag.

IRC uses modes to customize chat rooms. Any user can create their own chat room on our servers and customize it themselves by either setting modes or by using our services robots (bots). Operators (or moderators) of a chat room can kick or ban troublemakers and set modes to block swear words, remove colour from text, add a password to the chat room, plus set security options to prevent abusive users from flooding or spamming the chat room.
